Why revenue share could make you more money than your own blogs

There are a lot of people out there who will tell you that revenue share is a waste of time. Something I’ve found is that these people either have a blogging course they want to sell or they want to sell something like web hosting. They benefit from you setting up your own blog, whether that blog thrives or dies. What they won’t admit is that all types of writing have their place in the world. They won’t tell you that it is possible to make more money with revenue share than with your own blogs.

I’m proof that revenue share can net you more income than having your own blog. I’m also proof that having your own blog can still be a viable option. Then I’m proof that private clients is a great way to build your income. I love all three types of writing online for various reasons.

But this is about rev share. How could it possibly make you more money than having your own blog? Don’t you have more freedom of setting up your own affiliate links and your own ads with your blog?

Well, yes, but rev share also has its benefits. Here’s why I’ve found revenue share can be more profitable.

You don’t have to worry about the website outgoings

One of the biggest benefits is the lack of money you put into revenue share. This is a huge deal-breaker for many people. You may not be able to pay for web hosting just yet (when you can and want to set up your own blog, I highly recommend SiteGround) or you may not have the time to spend building your own blog. That’s okay! It does take time and money.

I started with revenue share because I was in that same position. I didn’t know how to make my own site or what to do to help it grow. We were living paycheck to paycheck and I had no savings to risk to put into my own blog. There are so many other people like that out there. Something that many forget is that you may not be in the same financial position as them. You need a free way to start making money, and that’s was rev share can offer you.

Since you don’t have to worry about the site outgoings, all the money you make is for you. Okay, you’ll have to put some aside for taxes, but you don’t need to worry too much about the cost of hosting or marketing your content. Someone else worries about all that for you.

They do some of the promotion for you

A good revenue share site will do some of their own promotion. At Hidden Remote, we will put our writers’ content on social media as soon as it’s live and then evergreen content gets shared regularly. We make sure that it gets out there.

Of course, you’re encouraged to do your own marketing, too. In fact, you want to get into a habit of marketing your own content for when you have your own blog. But the benefit of the rev share side doing the marketing too is that you can reach a larger audience. It’s possible to get more eyes on your blog posts, so you increase the chances of getting more money than you would with your own blog that only you are promoting.

The revenue share site owners have a stake in your writing too

Those who own the rev share site will have a stake in the content. Good owners know that they’re only thriving because of their writers. They need to make sure they help you as much as possible.

Bad owners will see their sites crash. They’re not willing to make changes with the times. And there have been so many that this has happened to. Yet, those that are still around since 2010 have made changes and adapted. They know that the writers are important, so they make changes to help the writers grow and succeed. You have that extra support that you wouldn’t have when it comes to your own blog. This can help you net more income.

Of course, you need to find a good site for this benefit. There are many people out there who set up a rev share site and don’t realize how much time and money it will take to make it a success or they’re just in it for their money and don’t care about their writers. Those that care about their writers are worth the time and effort you put into them.

Make More Money With Revenue Share

It can be possible to still use your own affiliate links

You’ll hear that the downside of a revenue share site is that you can’t use your own ads or affiliate links. That is the case for some sites, but not all of them. There are some where you can use your own links. HubPages and Wizzley continue to offer this option, so you can make more money through your affiliate links as well as through whatever rev share program is on offer.

When you can use your own affiliate links, you stand the chance of making more money. There’s a chance of gaining the extra audience and people are more likely to buy.
