Writing at revenue share sites offers more value than money

Writing at revenue share sites offers more value than money

You may hear that writing at revenue share sites is a waste of time. After all, it takes hard work and determination to make money through them, and you’re making someone else money at the same time. Isn’t that just like having a “real” job? Well, sort of. Revenue share sites can also be highly beneficial in other ways. They offer value beyond money that will help you in the future.

I don’t say this because I want you to join specific sites. In fact, throughout this series, I’ve never once included an affiliate link to a residual income site. I’ve shared examples of sites that I write at, but never told you that you “must” write there. I’m writing this because there are so many nay-sayers out there, but they overlook some major benefits of revenue share sites that do put their writers first and are legitimate.

One of the biggest benefits is that you don’t need to put any money into the sites to start. You put your time in to help grow your own income at the sites. This is one of the reasons they remain so popular. There’s very little to lose. So because of that, you gain a lot of value.

They help you build a niche and audience

It’s hard starting out online. There are a lot of people who say build a site and you’ll make money—that you have all the control. Guess what; it’s not as simple as just getting a domain name and hosting. There’s so much you need to think about when running your own website or blog.

There are a lot of people who seem to forget all the hard work they had to take to get their blog to a point where they’re making money. Or they fake it and make you think they’re making a fortune when really they’re writing for absolutely nothing.

Writing at revenue share sites offers you the chance to build your niche and audience with little risk. It does take time and patience, but you can make a name for yourself. This can then be used to help build your own blog—and I do believe that this is an excellent way to make money online but there are risks to it. Once you’ve made a name for yourself, it’s easier to get readers to come to you.

Writing at revenue share sites gives you online writing experience

Let’s be honest; how much experience do you have right now writing online? Learning SEO, how to format blog posts, what works for social media, and how to choose the best topics for your niche takes time. Residual income sites give you that time to figure it all out. You have a space that you can test things and figure out if a niche is worth it.

You also get experience by talking to other writers and editors. I get a lot of questions about SEO because I know a fair bit about how to make it work. I like to help the writers at Hidden Remote and other FanSided sites to make sure they build their audience. I’ve helped some on building Pinterest accounts and making that social media site work and in return, I’ve gained help on how to make Google+ work.

Revenue share sites have taught me how to build an audience, how to network, how to leverage results, and how to build a niche. I’ve developed writing skills too. You’ll be surprised at what you learn, but this is something to take away from the sites; something you can use elsewhere.

Why Write at Revenue Share Sites

Revenue share sites build connections

I may not be on some revenue share sites, but I still talk to writers that are or were on them. Connections can last for months, years, and even decades. You can end up with friends around the world, offering tips, advice, and help when you need it. The world really isn’t about what you know, but who you know. Because of some of the connections, I found out about Hidden Remote and the whole FanSided brand. I wouldn’t be where I am now without it. Because of connections, I’ve found out about courses and challenges that have helped me build my blog, my niche, and my income. Connections have helped me find private clients (some good, some bad) and gain ideas for blog posts and marketing.

Connections are one of the most valuable things you’ll gain from revenue share sites. Not all rev share sites have made me money while there, but I’ve made it afterward because of them!
